🇳🇱 Richard de Boer (1976) is journalist, gevestigd in de Friese havenstad Harlingen.
Al meer dan twintig jaar werk ik aan verhalen over maatschappelijke en politieke kwesties – eerst vanuit Amsterdam, sinds 2011 gestationeerd in het noorden. Mijn benadering is kwestiegedreven, niet clubgebonden: verificatie, context en betrouwbaarheid van bronnen wegen zwaarder dan snelheid.
Voor de Volkskrant maakte ik onder meer diepgravende reportages over gesjoemel in de wetenschap, zoals de zaak rond VU-hoogleraar Bax (2013) en het fenomeen van academische nepconferenties en rooftijdschriften (2015). Voor het Friesch Dagblad versloeg ik de coronacrisis. Met Niek Donker publiceerde ik in de Leeuwarder Courant over een ondernemersdrama rond een schimmig netwerk dat vaker opduikt in fraudezaken en juridische conflicten (2025).
Op dit moment werk ik aan langlopende dossiers, onder meer voor onderzoeksplatform Follow the Money (FTM). Verder ben ik correspondent voor het AD in Noord-Nederland en redacteur bij Omroep Zilt.
Naast Nederlands en Engels spreek en schrijf ik Fries en Zuid-Slavische talen (Servisch, Kroatisch, Bosnisch).

🇬🇧 Richard de Boer (1976) is a freelance journalist based in the Northern Netherlands with over twenty years of experience in national and regional media.
As a reporter, editor and investigative journalist, I work on political and social issues across the Netherlands. My work includes interviews, feature reporting, court and council reporting, science journalism, historical stories, and investigative dossiers.
I have published investigative work on academic misconduct, fraudulent networks in the business world, and the way authorities apply labels such as “anti-institutional” and terrorism-related classifications. My approach prioritises verification, context and source reliability over speed and visibility, and focuses on stories that remain relevant beyond the news cycle.
I currently work on in-depth reporting projects, including for the investigative platform Follow the Money. In addition, I’m also a correspondent for AD in the northern Netherlands and an editor at the local news organisation Omroep Zilt.
I speak and write Dutch, English, Frisian, and South Slavic languages Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian (BCS).
